One of the first chairs ever discovered dates all the way back to Ancient Egypt, and was not a chair particularly, but a throne. Often, these thrones were crafted from wood and adorned with materials such as leather, to provide comfort, and also jewels to show power and importance.In Europe, this all changed in the 16^th Century. No longer was sitting reserved for the rich and powerful as comfort was shared with the masses and seating started to become the daily norm for most.Since this time chairs have developed and so have the styles through the centuries. From the early Egyptian throne which seats low to the ground with a very simple style, to the later French Renaissance and Rococo styles both adorned with ornate designs, then finally into the traditional styles, which were designed with simple and fast craftsmanship in mind for the everyday working man. It seems an interesting thing to think how chairs have changed throughout history when they are so abundant in our everyday lives in the 21^st Century.Our designs have adapted a lot over time, but our range of classic chairs still pays ode to the original designs dating back centuries through the traditional use of wood to craft the frames of the chair.
